Before you start the installation, there are certain things to check, and make sure you have them so that the process is complete. For example, what comes with the box and the tools you need.

What You'll Need

Your existing deadbolt thumb turn must be unscrewed and removed. Remove the additional back plate if there is one. Make sure you position the thumb turn so that you can access both screws so that the thumb turn can be completely removed.

Two screw-holes on the included mounting plate can be repositioned according to your preference. Mount the thumb latch on the mounting plate by removing the screws from the latch.

Secure the mounting plate against the door by hand tightening the screws. Note: Over-tightening the screws may result in issues in the future.

Select your adapter from the Compatibility Chart below.

Note: The adapters can be placed in the mounting plate backward. So, if the shape is correct but seems backwards, try flipping the adapter around.

Place the accurate adapter onto the tailpiece with the small nub pointing up.

Pull out both side wing latches to prepare for mounting.

Attach the Yale Smart Lock to the mounting plate by sliding it over the tailpiece. Ensure that the back of the lock is flush with the door. Clamp down both side wing latches to the mounting plate completely to secure the Yale Smart Lock.

At the bottom of the face plate, press down on the Yale logo. Remove the top of the faceplate.

Remove the plastic battery isolation tab while holding the batteries in place. Battery compartments must be properly seated.

Make sure you have the Yale Access App installed on your device. From the home screen, select "Get Started," or, if already logged in, choose "Set Up a Lock." Follow in-app instructions to complete setup.
