The list of Tools You Need

Gather the following materials before packing your TV. Also, you should have someone help you lift a large TV into its box and onto the moving truck if it is heavy.

  • Microfiber cloth
  • Smartphone with a camera
  • Twist ties or Velcro tape
  • Masking tape
  • Marker
  • Foam wrap
  • Bubble wrap
  • Moving tape
  • TV box or old blankets
  • Measuring tape
  • Pencil
  • Scissors

Steps to Follow

Start by turning off your TV before packing it for moving. Unplug all the cords and clean them with a microfiber cloth. Pack it in a box and store it securely in the moving truck after wrapping it in a protective covering.

Turn off the TV

Turn off and unplug your TV before packing it. Set aside the power cable while you remove it

Clean the TV

Use a microfiber cloth to clean the screen, vents, and other parts of the TV. You can prevent your TV from getting scratched during transit by removing dust and dirt from the screen.

Click a Photo of Your TV Before Moving it

Before you move your TV into a new house, take a photo of the wires to help you remember how they were set up.

Unplug All the Cords, Cables, and other Accessories

The cords from your connected devices should be unplugged one by one. Velcro or twist ties can be used to wrap them. Using masking tape and a marker, label the cords. Remotes should also be battery-free. Cords and accessories should be organized in a box. If your TV is mounted on the wall, you can unmount it from here.

Use a Protective Covering to Wrap the TV

You can use bubble wrap, foam wrap, or any other protective wrap you have. The TV should then be placed in its original packaging in the box. If you don't have these, you can buy a TV packing kit or use blankets or old newspapers as makeshift padding. Tape the padding once it has been completed. The screen of the TV can be damaged if you put tape directly on it.

Place the TV in the Box

Make the box cushioned by lining the bottom with foam. Lift the TV with the help of a friend or family member. Slide the TV inside the box while it is upright. To prevent the TV from moving around while in transit, ensure that there are no gaps between the box and the TV. You can add more soft padding if there are gaps.

The TV should be placed in the moving truck or car near sturdy objects.

Lift the box and place it in your moving truck or car with the help of a friend or family member. To prevent the box from shifting during transit, place it upright between sturdy items like a sofa or dresser. Avoid placing the screen near sharp corners or other objects. Keep heavy objects away from the TV as well.

Keep the TV in the Upright Position

Your flat-screen TV will lose balance if you lay it flat. TVs can crack or become distorted if they are left flat for a long period

Safely Unbox the TV

Don't plug in your TV right away after you unpack it in your new home. Make sure the TV is at room temperature before using it. After that, you can mount it again or place it on its stand. Using the photos you took before packing up the accessories, assemble them as you did before
